It is proposed to divert water from the Dawson Road wetland to Evanston South and mix with a gravity fed wetland that will treat water from the local catchment. The wetland site occurs just west of the Alma Fault. Close to the fault, the limestone aquifer thins out and/or becomes sandy. West of the Alma Fault, there are changes in facies and there is good potential to intersect the T2 aquifer. It occurs at a depth of 85-95m below ground, and the thickness is anticipated to average 20m. Salinity ranges between 900-1,100mg/L. Injection rate per well is anticipated to be around 10 L/s. Five wells located 150m-200m apart, westerly from the western boundary of the wetland, along Angle Vale Rd will be required. This is considered to be well within the storage capacity of the aquifer.
